Why Use (Fish) Compost:
-When establishing a new garden, or revitalizing an old one, one of the best things you can do for your soil is to add compost. Compost serves a number of important functions: it breaks up clay soil while providing more "body" to sandy soils, it holds water reducing the need for irrigation, it provides essential nutrients for healthy plant life, it creates a healthy environment for beneficial soil flora and fauna to thrive in, and best of all, compost helps reduce the use of chemical fertilizers.
-For centuries, farmers have relied on the intangible benefits of adding fish to their gardens. The exact benefits provided by fish are not fully understood, but most gardeners will assure you that they do exist. It is this special unknown that we believe sets our fish compost apart from all other composts. By including all parts of the fish in our composting process, we end up with a compost that contains not only a good balance of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium, but is also a significant source of several critical micro-nutrients such as calcium, magnesium and iron. These all have roles to play in healthy plant development. Due to the nature of compost, these ingredients will remain available to plants beyond the initial year of application.
-One of the most compelling reasons for adding compost to garden soil is that compost is a biologically active material. This means it supports soil life such as bacteria and fungi which are critical for healthy soil and optimium plant growth.
-We are so convinced of the quality of our compost that we are currently seeking accreditation through a major certifying body.
-Many people have used Meeker's Magic Mix since we began production. We have had a very enthusiastic response from both home and professional growers.
